Since 1968 he has continuously performed scientific research in the field of Neurophysiology. Author or co-author of more than 400 publications, of which about 100 are peer-reviewed articles with a “ISI” impact factor.
In the last years he has been involved in the scientific problem of physiological and pathological brain ageing, being involved in a series of national and international (E.U.) funded projects:
-BIOMED-2 S.I.D (Spect In Dementia) 1998-2001
-The programs of the European Alzheimer Disease Consortium (EADC), concerning the early diagnosis of dementias, the guidelines for the definition of Mild Cognitive Impairment, the relationships between diabetes and cognitive impairment, neuroimaging in dementia, the effects of Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors in mild and moderate Alzheimer’s disease.
