主要研究方向为高电压技术、电力设备可靠性工程、智能电力设备、绝缘检测与诊断技术。主持国家自然科学基金2项、863子课题1项、科技支撑计划子课题1项、国际合作项目7项、重大横向课题9项,作为技术骨干参与973课题2项。担任中国电工技术学会输变电工程专委会、中国电工技术学会工程电介质专委会 、中国电机工程学会电气设备安全与信息技术委员会、气体绝缘金属封闭电器标准化技术委员会、电力设备在线检测标准化技术委员会委员,担任《中国电力百科全书》之《电工技术基础》卷:“高电压技术”分支副主编。发表论文60余篇,其中SCI收录10余篇,EI收录40余篇。获省部级及国家电网、南方电网奖励10余项
