Bio
Jean-Louis A. Mestas (M’99) was born in Bergonne, France, in 1954. He received the Diploma degree in electronic engineering and the Docteur Ingénieur degree from the National Institute of Applied Sciences, Lyon, France, in 1980 and 1982, respectively.
Since 1984, he has been with the French Institute of Health and Medical Research, Lyon. His first research project led to the development and the commercialization of the French electro-hydraulic shock wave lithotriptor Sonolith 2000 in 1986. He is currently involved in cavitation induced by ultrasound and its application for biology and therapy in particular sonochemotherapy, sonoporation, and cell transfection.
