个人简介
Marjaana Mäkelä (PhD, Lic. Phil., MA, MSc, Certified teacher) is a Principal Lecturer at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. She works as a researcher in the team of Engaging Vocational Pedagogy, with responsibilities in vocational teachers’ education, validation (VPL), curriculum development, quality management and export of education. In pedagogical development of higher education, her areas of expertise relate to continuous learning, validation processes and work-integrated learning. She coordinates the working group on academic recognition in the European University Ulysseus and is a member of the Finnish working group of validation in the framework of Nordiskt Nätverk för Vuxnas Lärande.
Dr Mäkelä has an interdisciplinary background that has triggered her research orientation: it includes study of pedagogical discourse, consumer studies (n particular, discourse of foodie consumers), gastronomy, French language, and hospitality education. Her Licentiate of Philosophy dissertation was conducted on terminology of new technologies of communication in French economic press and her PhD thesis from University of Westminster analyses discourse of foodie consumers on chili and chocolate online in Finnish, English and French. She publishes in all three languages.
