个人简介
My research investigates processes within Earth's lithosphere using techniques including seismology, space-based geodesy, and marine geophysics. One major effort focuses on understanding earthquakes better to improve the maps seismologists produce to predict future shaking in earthquakes, which are used to design earthquake-resistant structures and thus reduce losses from earthquakes, Colleagues and l are exploring how to assess how well these maps work around the world, what causes the uncertainties involved, and how to make better forecasts. Another focuses on how the Earth's lithosphere evolve. Our current studies explore the processes that rift continents over time and form new ocean basins, which is important for fundamental geoscience, energy resources at continental margins, and natural hazards.
