Bio
Dr. Amalia muñoz obtained her Ph.D in chemistry at the University of Valencia , Spain in 2001. She is a Senior Researcher at CEAM Foundation, where she works since 2002. She is the head of the Atmospheric Chemistry group and coordinator of the European PHOto-Reactor facility (EUPHORE), one of the biggest outdoor atmospheric simulation chambers worldwide for studying atmospheric chemistry processes. In addition, since July 2021 she is the Executive Director of CEAM. Her main field of interest is the study of gas-phase reactions (reactions with OH radicals, ozone, light and NO3 radicals), relevant to photooxidant formation , analysis of VOCs and OVOCs in air, pollutant reduction, pesticides. She maintains an active international collaboration with research groups such us CNRS-ICARE (France), University College Cork (Ireland) University of Birmingham (UK), University of York (UK), among others. She is author or coauthor of more than 50 publications, in peer review journals of high impact and chapter books, most of them with international collaboration (>70%). She has the PI of several EU funded projects from FP programs (e.g FP7-228335, FP7-GA-2011-295132, FP6-505968, H2020 Eurochamp2020 (GA730997) and coordinator of two projects from EU LIFE+ programs (LIFE13 ENV/ES/000603, LIFE17 ENV/ES/000205). Nowadays she is the PI of two H2020 projects- , ACTRIS IMP GA 871115) and ATMO-ACCESS (GA 101008004). In addition, she has been the PI of 4 projects from the national calls, CGL2013-49093-C2-1-R, CGL2010-18474/CLI, CGL2007-65223/CLI and RTI 2018-097768B-C21) , and a research member of the national network of excellence ACTRIS-SPAIN (CGL2017-90884-REDT) and RED ESPAÑOLA DE DMAS AMBIENTALES (RED2018‐102594‐T). She has been also a researcher of 3 projects from the Valencia Regional Government for Research Groups of excellence, being the PI of one of them Prometeo/2019/110).
Additionally, she has been the responsible of several contracts with Industry (e.g: Dow AgroSciences, ADAMA Agricultural Solutions, Aerosol d.o.o, Blue Industry, ,etc), and Local and Regional Public Authorities. She has organized several international workshops and international experimental campaigns with the participation of more than 300 international researchers.
She is also an associate researcher of the "Air Pollution Unit 2" CEAM as Associated Unit R+D+I to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and the responsible researcher from CEAM of the “Atmospheric Pesticide Research Group” of Valencia.
She has been the tutor of several internships, mainly students from USA Universities, through EUROACE, and have acted as host of several PhD students from other institutions. She has supervised 1 doctoral thesis, with maximum qualification and she has been the tutor of one "Juan de la Cierva -formación" postdoctoral grant.
