Cyclic nucleotides monophosphates (cNMPs) act as second messengers in a plethora of signalling events via their interaction with highly conserved cNMP binding domains. I focus on the detailed characterization of cNMPs (e.g. c[A/G/C/U/I/X])MP, c-di-GMP) interaction to all kinds of proteins which leads to a better understanding of their function in complex biological systems.
