Prof. Miguel Olivares-Mendez is currently Assistant Professor on Space Robotics and Senior Research Scientist at the SnT-University of Luxembourg. He leads the Space Robotics Research Group (SpaceR), the Luna Lab and Zero-G Lab. He received the Diploma in Computer Science Engineering in 2006 (University of Malaga, Spain) and the M.Sc. and the PhD degree in Robotics and Automation (Technical University of Madrid, Spain), in 2009 and 2013. Awarded with Best PhD Thesis award of 2013 by the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT). In 2013 he joined the SnT-University of Luxembourg, as Associate Researcher in the Automation & Robotics Research Group (ARG). In December 2016 as a Research Scientist and main responsible for the research activities on mobiles robotics at ARG. His main research interests are UAVs, planetary and orbital robotics for perception, machine learning, autonomous navigation and multi-robot interaction. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed publications. He is/was Co-PI/PI in more than 10 projects and was/is involved in more than 20 projects. He was/is co-supervising or main supervisor of more than 12 PhD candidates. He has supervised numerous Master theses and bachelor theses. He is currently leading 8 PostDocs, 8 PhD students, 5 Master students in the SpaceR group.
