Kunihiko Mabuchi

Kunihiko Mabuchi was born in Japan in 1951. He received the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. At the University of Tokyo, he worked on biomedical engineering as a Research Associate in the Institute of Medical Electronics, Faculty of Medicine, from 1986 to 1989, as an Associate Professor in the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology from 1989 to 1996, and as a Professor in the Center for Collaborative Research from 1996 to 2002. Since 2002, he has been a Professor in the Department of Information Physics and Computing, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, University of Tokyo, and his main research interests include the development of artificial organs, neural prostheses, the application of virtual reality techniques for medicine, and medical robotics.
