RESEARCH INTERESTS My research deals with various aspects of Zoology that find the common denominator in morphological, ultrastructural, and functional analysis. Microscopic and molecular methods have been applied to pursue two goals: contribution to basic research and creation and validation of protocols for assessing changes induced by the aquatic environment perturbations. Basic research: the study of the reproductive apparatus and respiratory system represents a transversal theme arch and the interest in the morphofunctional rearrangement during the transition from aquatic to on land life, the role of key molecules in the modulation of biological responses. - Ecotoxicology: integrated analysis of different biological indicators; morpho-functional evaluation of target organs in response to the aquatic environment alterations (pH, salinity, presence of pollutants). - Interdisciplinary research requiring specific expertise in histology, ultrastructure, and confocal microscopy.
