Rogelio Pereda-Miranda

Rogelio Pereda-Miranda, a native of Mexico City, is a full Professor of Pharmacognosy at the School of Chemistry, National University of Mexico. His main research interests are in developing analytical methods for the isolation of biodynamic principles of plant origin through modern preparative chromatography techniques. His research interests further include determination of the tridimensional structure and molecular conformation and configuration --by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and quantum mechanics calculations-- of flexible multichiral-center small molecules, simple carbohydrates, oligosaccharides, glycolipids, and complex secondary metabolites. Currently, he is working in the isolation of new plant substances with cytotoxic and antineoplasic activities, and their further development based on natural products as tubulin-interacting agents and glycoprotein-P modulators by pharmacophore modeling, virtual screening, and molecular docking. He has supervised 25 Master of Science and 21 Doctoral theses. Since 2007, he has been part of the Editorial Board of Phytochemistry Letters (Elsevier); also, he is an Associate Editor (Chemistry) for the Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences since 2018. He was an active Associate Editor for the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy (Elsevier; 2015-2019) and now is the Editor-in-Chief of this forum published by Springer Nature.
