Bio
Young-Wook Choi (M'99) was born is Seoul, Korea, on June 26, 1960. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, in 1984, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences, Kyushu University, Japan, in 1994 and 1997, respectively.
In 1984, he joined the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), where he was engaged in high voltage engineering. From 1991 to 1997, he was involved in research of glow discharges using laser diagnostic techniques at Kyushu University, Japan. In April 1997, he returned to KERI. In March 2001, he was promoted to be a Principal Researcher at KERI. His major research interests include laser diagnostic for the plasma phenomena and power source manufacture for the versatile plasma application. His current research interests include the development of a 42” in-line magnetron MgO sputtering apparatus for the plasma display panel.
Dr. Choi is a member of the APS, JJAP, and KIEE.
