Mihai Gavrilas

Mihai Gavrilaş (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Iaşi, Romania, in 1959. He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in power engineering from the “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi, Romania, in 1984 and 1994. From 1984 to 1987, he was an engineer with activities on construction sites (commissioning of indoor 110 kV and MV/LV substations for electrical power plants, and 1 MVAr synchronous compensator) and design for power plants and power substations. Since 1987, he has been an Assistant, a Lecturer, and an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi. Since 1999, he has been appointed as a Full Professor at the Department of Power Engineering, “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi. He is the author of 16 books or chapters in books, and more than 150 articles. His research interests include transmission and distribution network management, smart grids and renewable sources integration, microgrids and distributed generation, electrical vehicles integration (V2G and G2V), and artificial intelligence applications in power engineering.
