Edurne Berra

I was born on March 22, 1967 in San Sebastián (Spain). I studied Pharmacy at the University of Navarra (Spain; 1984-1989) and a Licence Spéciale in “Toxicology and Pharmacology” at the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium; 1989-1990). Then, I moved to the CBMSO and obtained my PhD degree, supervised by Dr Jorge Moscat, in 1996 at the UAM. I pursued my scientific career as postdoc at the Glaxo-Wellcome-CSIC laboratory of Molecular and Cell Biology for two years (Madrid, Spain). From February 1998 to September 2001, I was postdoc at the CNRS-UMR6543 in Nice (France). In October 2001, I was appointed Chargé de Recherche (CNRS-CR1) at the same lab, and in November 2006 I moved to CIC bioGUNE. I got my HDR (Habilitation à la Direction de Recherche) in 2007 at the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (Nice, France). I have authored 48 scientific publications in international journals of the highest impact (Cell, EMBO Journal, PNAS...) that received more than 6000 citations and an h-index of 34. My research has been recognized with the Fundación Renal “Iñigo Alvarez de Toledo” Prize (2007), the « Dr Joseph Amalrich » Prize for Excellence in Cancer Research (2002) and the HFSP (1999) and EMBO (1998) Fellowships. I am member of the European Hypoxia Network (HypoxiaNet), the Spanish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SEBBM) and the Spanish Society for Cancer Research (ASEICA).
