Design of a Smart and Power Efficient Dual Axis Solar Tracking System

摘要
The performance and life span of an energy storage solar battery depends on its charging and discharging. A solar charge controller regulates the rate of charging and discharging of the battery for its smooth and efficient operation. Solar tracking systems are used to maximize the opportunities of solar energy systems by tracking the sun over time. These systems use one or more axes of movement to point toward the sun during daylight hours. The two most common types are single-axis and double-axis solar tracking systems. The harvesting potential of double-axis solar tracking systems is 15% more than the single-axis solar tracking systems. But some researchers concluded that 5.89% of total power generated is consumed by the devices like motors, sensors, etc that re sued in these solar tracking systems. Hence an energy and power efficient design of a solar tracking system is proposed in this paper. A temperature sensitive material can be used for the movement of hydraulic cylinder instead of motors or actuators; hence energy can be saved.
