The Prospect of Inclusive Business Model for Mini-Grid Development

This paper aims to assess the importance of inclusive business models in rural mini-grid projects by analyzing the value chain of the mini-grid ecosystem. An inclusive business model is characterized by sustainability and aims to involve income-constrained groups in the value chain by providing solutions to neglected problems. Specifically, in the context of mini-grid development, an inclusive business strategy should aim to generate economic opportunities, promote local ownership and sustainability, and ensure that the benefits of electrification are accessible to the most marginalized communities. The objective of this study is to suggest approaches for mini-grid developers to foster inclusivity in their operations by addressing the social and economic hurdles experienced by underserved communities in rural areas of developing countries.
