Risk assessment

Abstract This chapter begins with the difference between risk in a psychological setting as opposed to, for instance, a surgical setting. It outlines the techniques and values of risk assessment, and then approaches to the subject. Risk of violence and associated assessments are explained, as is the risk of sexual offending and associated instruments. The risk of suicide and self-harm, including areas for extra concern, are detailed. Other specific risks such as arson are included, and finally assessment in non-clinical settings is covered.
