Ranges of application and potentials of hydropower machines

The specific ranges of application of suitable hydropower machines are shown for small and medium-sized hydropower plants. By means of the head and the discharge, the hydroelectric power machine that can be used at the site can be determined. In addition to the use of hydropower at unused reaches of a river, there are opportunities for expansion at a large number of existing natural and artificial water structures and at disused former hydropower sites. Further potential can be found in irrigation canals and in the tidal area.
