Smartphone digital image colorimetry combined with dispersive solid-phase microextraction for the determination of boron in food samples

•DSPME and SDIC were combined for the determination of boron in nuts.•SDIC using monochromatic light source improved selectivity of the method.•The results obtained with DSPME-SDIC were in good agreement with those obtained with UV/Vis spectrophotometry.•This study expands the applicability of SDIC to complex food matrices.
