Abstract
Satellite assisted Wireless Networks (SaWNs) have commonly been regarded as an integral part of the next generation wireless communication systems, offering a highway to global connectivity and multi-domain interconnection. To realize low-latency transmission for virtual reality (VR) applications, this letter first establishes a downlink transmission framework in SaWNs, where satellite and femtocell are respectively responsible for outdoor and indoor communications. Then, by designing the user association and serving strategy, a delay-minimization problem is formulated and solved based on convex optimization and Q-learning methods. Simulation results are finally presented, which reveal that our proposed algorithm, compared with conventional benchmark algorithms can reduce significantly transmission delay and meet the VR latency requirement well.
