Multi-objective robust optimization for enhanced safety in large-diameter tunnel construction with interactive and explainable AI

•A BIM based interactive and explanable AI approach assisted by SHAP is developed.•A multi-objective robust optimization with machine learning model is proposed.•The influence from different size and type of uncertainty set is studied.•Different optimization methods are compared.•Robust optimization generates more conservative solutions and the conservativeness increases with the decrease of uncertainty set size.
