Abstract
•A mitochondria-targeted fluorescent probe DDMI was developed for monitoring H2S.•DDMI exhibited excellent selectivity, sensitivity, low cytotoxicity and comprehensive application.•DDMI-based test strip was developed to track the freshness of chicken, pork and beef.•DDMI was successfully applied for H2S imaging in HeLa cells and targeting mitochondria.
