Abstract
Infrared Sounding of moisture and temperature profiles from space is a key measurement required for weather forecasting, however current satellites are not scalable to a large constellation due to their high cost. The Compact Hyperspectral Infrared Sounding Interferometer (CHISI) is a new low-cost field-widened interferometer satellite which is compatible with EELV Secondary Payload Adaptor form factor, thus is scalable to lower cost SmallSats and launch. A constellation of 14 CHISI satellites with Optical Crosslinks will achieve a 1-hour revisit time and <5 minute latency, thus enabling improved forecast sensitivity observations impact.
