Features of electrochemical formation and optical properties of PEDOT/GO films on flexible ITO/PET substrates

Abstract
The regularities of electrochemical synthesis of polymer layers with electrochromic properties based on poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) on flexible indium–tin oxide/polyethylene terephthalate (ITO/PET) electrodes were established. PEDOT films were modified with graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles in the process of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene electrochemical oxidation. As shown by transmission electron microscopy, prepared polymer films have a globular structure with a uniform size distribution of aggregates. It has been found that doping with GO nanoparticles leads to the formation of composite structure with graphene plates and causes a change in the electronic structure of the polymer. Electrochromic transitions, namely, change in the optical density and position of the absorption maxima and, accordingly, the color of the PEDOT/GO films under the action of the applied potential, have been observed.
