Bladder distention has been identified as a primary trigger of autonomic dysreflexia (AD) in individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) at cervical and upper thoracic levels (majority of population), with systolic blood pressure (SBP) rising more than 20 mmHg and remaining elevated with intolerable symptoms (pounding headache and/or chills, for example).The current study examined control of blood pressure during bladder filling with neuromodulation in SCI individuals previously implanted with a spinal cord epidural stimulation (scES) electrode array.
