Abstract
•We examine the relationship between political connections around the world and economic policy uncertainty.•Political connections are more (less) likely to be established in countries with high (low) economic policy uncertainty.•Political connections are less likely to be established in countries with higher quality of institutional governance, but this relationship attenuated by heightened state of economic policy uncertainty.
