Ultra-Broadband Wave-Absorbing Metamaterials with Open-Hole Effect

Metamaterial absorbers are a new type of electromagnetic wave absorber with great potential in the field of EM wave absorption. However, there is still a problem that the effective absorption bandwidth (absorption <90%) of metamaterial absorbers is narrow. This paper designs and prepares a new type of ultra-broadband metamaterial absorber with open-hole effect, which not only shows excellent absorption performance in X-band and Ku-band, but also can effectively solve the problem of narrow effective absorption band width. At the same time, after the optimization of the dielectric materials and parameters of the structure, the composite metamaterial absorber with excellent performance is obtained, reaching a peak at 8.27 GHz with a peak reflectivity of -21.91 dB at a thickness of 2.2 mm, the absorption rate reaches 99.35%, and the effective absorption bandwidth reaches 11.6 GHz. Therefore, the composite metamaterial absorbers with open-hole effect have excellent comprehensive performance, especially in X-band and Ku-band, and will have a wide application prospect in the field of EM absorption.
