A Low Side-Lobe $W$-Band Pyramidal Horn Antenna with Thick Corrugations

摘要
Effectiveness of thick corrugations on the reduction of side lobe level (SLL) of a pyramidal horn antenna has been explored. As an example of thick teeth as well as wide grooves, an E-plane corrugated horn antenna operating over 90–100 GHz with 4 corrugations per operating wavelength at 95 GHz has been designed and fabricated. Measurements show that E-plane SLL has been improved by more than 8 dB over the whole frequency band of interest compared to the horn without any corrugation while there is no significant degradation of H-plane SLL.
