Dynamics of ecosystem services in response to urbanization across temporal and spatial scales in a mega metropolitan area

•Relationships between ecosystem services and urbanization were assessed.•Ecosystem services were significantly correlated with urbanization.•Different ecosystem services showed varied responses to urbanization.•Most developed urban areas had the lowest regulating and supporting services.•Relationships between ecosystem services and urbanization remained robust.
