Abstract
Despite a perceived increase in the salience of religion and spirituality in the workplace there is no empirical research that compares how men and women at different levels in their organizations engage their religious traditions in the context of their work. Drawing on a survey of 11,603 individuals we ask the following questions: To what extent do women and men across different organizational levels vary in the manner and degree they integrate their faith and work? Does this integration have an impact on variables important to organizations such as job satisfaction, job commitment, and burnout? Results show that employees' organizational level and gender are significantly related to the type and degree of faith engagement at work, with those at lower levels and men less likely to integrate faith and work. Faith integration at work is modestly related to job satisfaction, commitment, and burnout, with some likely reciprocal relationships identified.
