摘要
Surface tension is a fundamental parameter of binary liquid alloys (BLAs) for controlling the casting and welding processes. In this study, starting from the broken-bond rules, a theoretical model for the temperature-dependent surface tension (TDST) of BLAs was developed. Then combined with the classical ideal solution model, a surface tension model of BLAs related to temperature and composition was established. The model predictions are in good agreement with the available experimental data, which shows the rationality of our model. This research offers a simple method for the prediction of surface tension of BLAs with different component concentrations in a wide temperature range only by inputting the surface tension of pure components at a reference temperature and some basic thermodynamic data.
