摘要
Currently, a car is an essential element for individuals to travel around. As a result, people spend long hours in cars and are exposed to possible dangers. Drivers need to recognize dangers safely and quickly. There are visual and auditory ways of recognizing risks while driving. Also, with the increasing functions of cars, there are various types of warning sounds that drivers should identify. These sounds should not cause confusion or discomfort to the drivers. In this study, a total of 500 participants (male 250, female 250) were surveyed to identify the preference of the warning sounds. The age groups of the participants were separated into the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and over 60s. Each age group consists of 100 participants. They listened to nine sound samples and chose the sounds they preferred for ten given situations. There was only one difference in the preference between sex. However, there was no significant difference among age groups. This study is to give a guideline for the Auditory User Interface design of vehicle warning sounds.
