摘要
This chapter presents a brief review on air-pollution modelling and its techniques, i.e. methods in which a complex phenomenon in air-quality processes is transformed into a simple one, via computational simulation. It includes the description of models, both non-reactive (e.g. plume models) and reactive (e.g. photochemical models). Also discussed is the role of meteorological phenomena in the dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere. The chapter is introduced through a philosophical and practical discussion on the implications of mathematical air-quality modelling. Pertinent mathematical modelling techniques, namely Box, Gaussian, Eulerian, Lagrangian and particle modelling approaches, are evaluated, and the mathematical air-pollution modelling approach is discussed.
