Abstract
Pulmonary embolism in a young, previously healthy woman may be caused by different predisposing conditions. Systemic lupus erythematosus with accompanying anti-phospholipid syndrome was the diagnosis in this case. Severe autoimmune haemolytic disease may occur as a secondary phenomenon to systemic lupus erythematosus, and the condition must not be overlooked.
