Tree species diversity mapping using UAS-based digital aerial photogrammetry point clouds and multispectral imageries in a subtropical forest invaded by moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis)

•UAS-based remote sensing data have capability for mapping tree species diversity in bamboo invaded forests.•Tree species classification based on the synthesis of DAP point clouds and multispectral data.•Tree layer diversities decreased with increasing bamboo invasion in subtropical forests.•Tree species diversity distribution showed significant differences among the altitude classes.•Human intervention had a significant impact on bamboo invasion and forest diversity.
