Improvement In Oxidation And Particle-Diameter Characteristics Of Nanodiamonds Through Detonation Modification With Chromium Oxide

The detonation modification of nanodiamonds with chromium (III) oxide (Cr2O3) was studied in this paper. The thermostability, surface properties, crystal structure, specific surface area, pore diameters, and particle diameters of the detonation-modified nanodiamonds were analyzed using thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscopy, automatic physical adsorption, and laser particle size analysis. Cr2O3 and the surface functional groups of nanodiamonds were combined with C-Cr. We obtained a dispersed distribution of 0.1-0.5 mu m. The thermal stability characteristics and the particle diameter of nanodiamonds increased because of Cr2O3. The technology involved in the detonation modification of nanodiamonds with Cr2O3 is simple and low-cost.
