Dry matter intake, performance, carcass traits and expression of genes of muscle protein metabolism in cattle fed increasing levels of de-oiled wet distillers grains

•De-oiled wet distillers grains improve performance in F1 Angus-Nellore cattle.•Rumen-undegradable protein overfeeding increases hot carcass weight and, consequently, ribeye area.•Muscle protein metabolism genes are down-regulated by increasing levels of crude protein.
