A Novel Inhibitor for L921A Alloy Steel in a 3.5 % NaCl Solution

A novel corrosion inhibitor for L921A steel in a 3.5% NaCl solution was formulated. Its pitting resistance and electrochemical mechanism were studied by the combination of electrochemical technologies with surface analysis techniques. The results showed that the inhibitor was a mixed type of inhibitor with a good pitting corrosion-resistant performance to L921A steel in a 3.5% NaCl solution and its inhibitory efficiency was up to 95.0%. The inhibitory film was composed of deposit film, absorbed organic compounds and oxides film. L921A steel in a 3.5% NaCl solution was sensitive to pitting corrosion. However, EIS spectra changed with immersion time when the inhibitor was added into a 3.5% NaCl solution. The thickness of inhibitory film increased with increasing immersion time, the electrochemical impedance increased. Finally, the corrosion of L921A steel in a 3.5 % NaCl solution was retarded.
