Johann Csokor (1849-1911) was a doctor of medicine and a veterinarian. At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, he was heavily involved in the development of the Military Veterinary School Vienna towards a university of veterinary medicine. His work focused on infectious bacterial and parasitic diseases but he also studied zoonoses, meat hygiene, pathology and forensic veterinary medicine. Csokor contributed significantly to the development of the veterinary profession.
