A CASE-FINDING STRATEGY FOR FAMILIAL HYPERCHOLESTEROLAEMIA IN IRISH HOSPITALS
ATHEROSCLEROSIS(2019)
Abstract
Background and Aims: Familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is an under-diagnosed and under-treated condition with a significant public health burden: with prevalence estimated at 1:250, there are ∼23,000 persons with FH in the Republic of Ireland, the vast majority undiagnosed. To enhance FH diagnosis and optimise management, we describe a pilot initiative based on retrospective review of laboratory lipid profiles.
