Abstract
For tillage operations both active and passive tillage tools are used in India. Pulverizing attachment to tractor drawn cultivator was developed to overcome problems like, poor soil-tyre interface, clod formation, compaction due to heavy traffic and timeliness in operation. Cultivator and planker (T1), rotavator (T2), rotavator with tine (T3) and pulverizing attachment to cultivator (T4) were tested in the field having 12.57% moisture content and 1.6 gcm−3 bulk density. The values of clod MWD, bulk density and cone index were found to be 14.49 mm, 1.21gcm−3 and 455.99 kPa, respectively. The cost of operation of treatment T4 was Rs 2157/ha. Using developed pulverizing attachment to cultivator a farmer could save around Rs 1840/ha, Rs 257/ha and Rs 413/ha compared to T1, T2 and T3 respectively.
