•Thermosets from tung oil + synthetic/biobased comonomers (or modifier) were studied.•The role of crosslinkers, modifiers and oxidative aging is discussed.•Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy allows to trail the degradation kinetic.•The polymers oxidation processes are independent of the used comonomer or modifier.•Aging causes crosslinking, loss of low molecular weight products and densification.
