Effect of external factors on segregation of different granular mixtures

•Segregation is minimum at 40% fill height for mixtures of uniform density.•For large size ratios, increasing fill height decreases segregation.•Segregation decreases with decreasing chute inclination and increasing chute surface roughness.•Less segregation was observed in semi-circular chutes, compared to rectangular ones.•Non-uniformity of elastic modulus does not have significant effect on mixture segregation.
