Quantifying blood-brain-barrier leakage using a combination of Evans blue and high molecular weight FITC-Dextran.

•Binding EB and high MW FITC-Dextran is able to quantify and visualize BBB leakage.•Air drying at RT after slicing achieves stable and reliable results of BBB leakage.•Sections processed with this method enable further immunofluorescence staining.
