Abstract
This study integrates the two concepts of "health" and "intelligence" to develop an application program for "Indoor Environmental Health (IEH)" - namely, "iMOD (integrated Multi-media On Demand) sensing and consulting system". The system prototype is designed from the perspectives of users' needs to provide out-of-limit warnings about indoor environmental conditions and appropriate management information reminders. The users are guided to manually eliminate the indoor environmental problems according to their preferences and usage scenarios, so as to ensure the quality of the indoor environment. By applying the Android operating system and combining it with a tablet personal computer, the iMOD system interface includes "Sensing Interface: Environmental Sensing homepage", "Consulting Interface: Health Environment Consulting Knowledge Base", and "Settings". The environmental sensing factors include Equivalent Continuous Noise Level (Leq), illumination, temperature, and concentrations of carbon dioxide. The healthy environment consultation includes "Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Problems", "Health Impacts", "Evaluation Benchmarks", "Measuring Methods", "Improvements", and "Maintenance Management". The setting includes "Environmental Dose Alarm Settings" and "Equipment Self-inspection Reminder Settings". The study finally succeeds at integrating the environment sensing system subsequently to construct a prototype of complete iMOD application platform. The iMOD system optimizes man-machine interaction, and it not only can correctly display the environmental dosage situation, but as an intelligent housekeeper it can care for users' health and improve their living quality.
