Abstract
•SBA-15 modified with Fe were synthetized by a post synthesis method.•Ethanol as solvent allowed tuning Fe speciation to obtain highly stable solids.•Isolated stabilized Fe3+ ions are the active centers for the Fenton reaction.•Low Fe loadings favor dispersion and accessibility of H2O2 and AO7 to active species.•Heterogeneity of process was confirmed. Fe/SBA-15(2.5) showed reuse capacity.
