GC–MS-based metabolomics identifies an amino acid signature of acute ischemic stroke

•Here, we described a metabolic signature of acute ischemic stroke in serum by GC–MS-based metabolomics.•Amino acids are the most important disturbed metabolites.•Tyrosine, lactate, and tryptophan were jointly enabling a high precision (91.7%) to diagnose AIS.
