Experimental and numerical modeling of shear behavior of laminated Guadua bamboo for different fiber directions

•Numerical simulation of crack direction is similar to the one observed in the test.•Tests with or without overlap between slat and RAP exhibit the same load and crack.•The crack in LGB tests of Configuration FY matches with the reduced area plane.•The crack is inclined 45 degrees with respect to load in LGB of Configuration FZ.•Several cracks occur perpendicular to load and parallel to fibers in Config. FX.
