Tethering of hyperbranched polyols using PEI as a building block to synthesize antifouling PVDF membranes

•Antifouling PVDF membranes were prepared by grafting hyperbranched polyols.•The modified membranes show superhydrophilic property.•The modified membranes are positively charged due to unreacted amines.•The modified membranes show high protein resistance and flux recovery.•The modified membranes with HPEI60000 shows the best performance.
