Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Mitral Valve Repair in Barlow Disease Using Open Annuloplasty Bands
The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon(2017)
Abstract
Objectives: Mitral valve surgery in Barlow disease is still challenging and recommends high surgical expertise. Many patients with Barlow disease undergo mitral valve replacement instead of repair (MVR). The minimally invasive video-assisted approach has already been proven for Barlow disease. There is an ongoing discussion about the use of closed versus open annuloplasty rings for MVR in Barlow disease.
